Study in Poland: The Best Proven Guide You Need

Study in Poland for Pakistani students used to be sold as Europe’s easiest student visa. That changed in 2025. Today, your Polish visa file starts with one question: can you prove B2-level English with a certificate from Poland’s official list?

Get that right, and Poland is still one of the best-value EU options — low fees, English-taught degrees in IT and engineering, Schengen travel and a nine-month job-search permit after graduation. Get it wrong, and the consulate refuses the file, no matter how strong your grades are.

This guide to study in Poland for Pakistani students explains the new rules, which English tests count, who Poland really suits, the best universities by city, what the consul is really checking, realistic costs and life after graduation. Study in Poland for Pakistani Students: The 2025 Rules That Changed Everything

After a 2023 visa scandal, Poland rewrote its rules. Plans to study in Poland for Pakistani students now face four big changes: a compulsory B2 language certificate, universities reporting students who don’t start, official checks on school certificates, and a 50% cap on foreign students per university.

The result is a much stricter consulate. A large share of student applications from Pakistan have been refused since the scandal, and many refusals come from files that would have passed a few years ago. Our team handles study in Poland from Pakistan files through our study visa service, and every file is checked against the new rules first.

Poland’s official Go Poland website, run by the national academic exchange agency (NAWA), explains the country’s universities and student life.

The B2 English Rule: Which Tests Count for Poland

The B2 rule is now the gatekeeper to study in Poland for Pakistani students on English-taught programmes. Your certificate must be on the ministry’s official list and is checked at admission and again by the consulate. Universities can no longer use their own internal tests.

Accepted Tests and Minimum Scores

TestCommon B2 minimum
IELTS Academic5.5
PTE Academic59
Cambridge EnglishB2 First
TOEFL iBTOn the list (check the current scale)
Duolingo English TestNot accepted

For most plans to study in Poland for Pakistani students, universities ask for more than B2 — often around IELTS 6.0–6.5. If you’ve read our guide to studying in Europe without IELTS, note that Poland is now one of the countries where Duolingo and university interviews no longer work. Our IELTS preparation in Multan and PTE classes are built around these exact scores.

Below IELTS 5.5? Your Honest Options

Unlike Cyprus or Malaysia, the route to study in Poland for Pakistani students has no English foundation shortcut, because the B2 certificate must come before the visa. The honest options are to raise your score to IELTS 5.5 (or PTE 59) first, or choose a country with an official foundation route. We plan the fastest route to B2 in your free profile assessment.

Who Poland Suits — and Who It Doesn’t

Plans to study in Poland for Pakistani students succeed when the profile fits. Poland rewards real English skills, a clear subject choice and a modest but well-documented budget. It is a poor fit for students hoping to skip the English test or move on to Western Europe.

Public or Private University? Choosing Where to Study in Poland

Where you study in Poland for Pakistani students matters as much as what you study. Public universities are older, better ranked and often cheaper for English-taught degrees, but entry is more competitive. Private universities offer flexible entry, but quality and visa success vary, and some have hit the foreign-student cap.

Questions the Polish Consul Is Really Asking

A national D-type visa is the gateway to study in Poland for Pakistani students, and the consul isn’t just ticking boxes. Behind every document sit three questions, and files that can’t answer them get refused. How to answer them in your case is covered in your free profile assessment.

Is your English genuinely at B2?

A certificate from the official list is required, and weak spoken English at the interview raises doubts even with a valid score.

Does the money story make sense?

Funds, accommodation and insurance must cover your stay and match your family’s real situation. Sudden deposits and unclear sponsors are common refusal reasons.

Is this a real university and a real study plan?

An easy offer from a weak university, a course unrelated to your background, or signs that Poland is just a route to Western Europe all lead to refusal — and universities now report students who don’t turn up.

Work, Schengen Travel and Staying On After Graduation

Once you arrive, study in Poland for Pakistani students comes with more freedom than many EU countries. Full-time students don’t need a separate work permit to take a job, provided studies come first, and Schengen membership allows short trips to other Schengen countries within the usual limits.

After graduating, you can apply once for a nine-month residence permit to look for work, and holders of a full-time Polish degree can be hired without a work permit. Remember: your study permission is for Poland, and living or working in another country on it isn’t allowed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Poland student visa easy for Pakistani students?

Not anymore. Since 2025, Poland has required a B2 English certificate from its official list, checks school certificates and attendance, and has refused a large share of Pakistani applications. Plans to study in Poland for Pakistani students still work well when the English score and file are strong.

Is Duolingo accepted for a Poland student visa?

No. The Duolingo English Test is not on Poland’s official list for the B2 requirement. Use IELTS Academic (usually 5.5+), PTE Academic (59+), Cambridge B2 First or TOEFL iBT instead.

What is the B2 requirement for studying in Poland?

Non-EU students must prove at least B2 level in the language of their programme with a certificate from the ministry’s list. It is checked at admission and again by the consulate before the visa is issued.

Can I travel to other European countries on a Polish student visa?

Poland is in the Schengen Area, so you can make short trips to other Schengen countries within the usual limits. You cannot live, study or work in another country on your Polish permission.

Can I work in Poland as a student?

Yes. Full-time students in Poland can take a job without a separate work permit, as long as your studies come first.

Can I stay in Poland after graduation?

Yes. Graduates can apply once, straight after graduating, for a nine-month residence permit to look for work. Holders of a full-time Polish degree can be hired without a work permit.
