UK study visa requirements in 2026 look simple on paper: a CAS from your university, proof of funds, an English test and a few documents. In reality, small mistakes in these files cause most refusals from Pakistan — and a refusal stays on your record for every future visa.
Every year, students from Multan, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad and across Pakistan come to us after a refusal. Almost always, the problem was not their grades. It was one detail they didn’t know existed.
This guide gives you the big picture of UK study visa requirements, so you know what you are walking into. For your own file, talk to our UK study visa guidance team before you submit anything.
What Are the UK Study Visa Requirements in 2026?
UK study visa requirements are based on a 70-point system. You earn 50 points from your CAS, 10 from financial proof and 10 from English language ability. All three are mandatory — missing any one, or getting one slightly wrong, means a refusal regardless of how strong the rest of your file is.
In short, you need:
- A CAS from a licensed UK university
- Proof of funds that meets UKVI’s strict rules
- English proficiency your university accepts
- Supporting documents — passport, TB certificate, academic papers
Sounds easy. The difficulty is in how each one is checked. The official rules are on GOV.UK, but they don’t tell you where Pakistani applicants usually slip.
UK Study Visa Requirements: 3 Areas Where Pakistani Students Get Refused
Most refusals under UK study visa requirements come from three areas: bank statements, document mismatches and the wrong English test. Each looks minor but is checked line by line by UKVI. One small error in any of them is enough to reject an otherwise perfect application.
1. The Bank Statement Trap

UKVI has a 28-day rule for funds — and a timing rule on top of it. Many families from Pakistan show the right amount, in the right bank, and still get refused because of when and how the money sat in the account.
Using a parent’s account? That adds its own document requirements. Is your bank even on UKVI’s accepted list? Not every Pakistani bank is.
We check this before you apply — not after.
2. Document Mismatches
Your name, dates and qualifications must match perfectly across your passport, CAS, bank letter and degree. A spelling difference like “Mohammad” vs “Muhammad” is enough to raise a flag. HEC/IBCC attestation, TB certificates from approved clinics and NADRA documents all have their own rules.
3. The Wrong English Test
Not every university accepts every test — and not every test meets UK study visa requirements for your course level. Students regularly waste money on the wrong exam. IELTS, PTE, Oxford ELLT, LanguageCert, Duolingo or an MOI letter can all work, depending on your university.
Not sure which one fits you? Our English Language Courses prepare you for the exact test your university accepts — online or on-campus in Multan.
How Much Does It Cost to Meet UK Study Visa Requirements?
Meeting UK study visa requirements involves several costs: the visa fee (now £558 after the April 2026 increase), a yearly health surcharge (IHS), the TB test, and the living-cost funds you must show. The living-cost figures are set to rise again for applications from 30 November 2026.
That last point matters. Applying before or after 30 November 2026 changes the amount you must show in your bank account. Planning the timing right can save your family a significant sum in PKR.

The 6 Steps to Meet UK Study Visa Requirements
The UK study visa process has six stages: receiving your CAS, preparing funds, collecting documents, completing the online form, paying fees and IHS, and attending biometrics at VFS Global. Each stage has its own deadlines, and getting the order wrong can push your file past your course start date.
- Secure your CAS from the university
- Prepare your funds under the 28-day rule
- Gather your documents — TB test, attested degrees, English result
- Complete the online application on GOV.UK
- Pay the visa fee and IHS
- Attend biometrics at VFS Global (Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi or Mirpur)
Each step has its own common mistakes. At LingoLab, we handle all six with you, from CAS review to biometrics day. Check our visa guidance page to see how we support each stage.
Big 2027 Change: Graduate Route Cut to 18 Months
UK study visa requirements are only half the story — what happens after graduation matters too. From 1 January 2027, the Graduate Route for Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates drops from 2 years to 18 months. PhD graduates keep 3 years.
This means your intake choice now affects your work rights later. Students choosing between September 2026, January 2027 and later intakes should plan this carefully with a counsellor.
